Karen Pauro’s long-standing and extensive career as a dancer, instructor, choreographer, studio director and producer (costuming, lighting and set design) has culminated in legions of energetic, inspiring performances and paved the way for hundreds of students to nourish their love of dance.
Karen began her dance training at a very young age. Throughout the years she enhanced her training by attending classes at the Pennsylvania Ballet Academy, Waves in Philadelphia and the Broadway Dance Center in New York, along with national dance conventions and seminars. Karen’s performances include the Pennsylvania Ballet Academy’s Nutcracker, various television programs and dance competitions, both locally and nationally. She also had the honor to perform for Dean Martin and Pavarotti in Atlantic City.
Although Karen immensely enjoys performing, her greatest love will always be instructing and choreographing and she takes great pride in mentoring and developing the talent of her students of all ages and skill levels. Certified by the international organization of Dance Masters of America, Karen’s creative guidance is founded on decades of teaching experience in ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics. Karen has taught at several area dance schools, including The Ronnie McLaughlin School of Dance (where she was owner and director from 1994-1998) and others. Karen designs innovative instructional programs and trains her students to perform professionally, including on Broadway. She enjoys her role as choreographer for the University of Pennsylvania’s Mask and Wig Club. An all male Ivy League theater troupe whose traditions started in 1889. Notably, Karen has won many top awards for her stellar dance pieces, including a Critics Choice award. Karen was responsible for training Miss Pennsylvania for her talent portion in the 2015 Miss America pageant.
