Shannon O’Hara is a passionate educator and classically trained dancer who has dedicated her career to providing quality dance education to students across the country. Miss Shannon is a state certified PK-12 Dance educator in the states of New Jersey and Virginia. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Dance from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance Education from Old Dominion University, earning top academic honors from both institutions.

Miss Shannon began dancing at the age of four. She spent the majority of her years training at CORE Academy of Movement in Mount Laurel, NJ where her love of dance flourished and was honed through various technique classes and as a member of the Xtensions Youth Dance Company. After graduating from CORE in 2011 as “Distinguished Senior”, she began her journey of studying dance in higher education. Throughout her years of study she had the opportunity to perform with various dance companies, theatres, and teams which included appearances on national television networks such as ESPN, ABC, and CBS.

Her experience as a dance educator includes a wide range of dance education settings, techniques, and topics in dance. Miss Shannon is a full time dance educator who is currently teaching at Hopewell Valley Central High School in Pennington, NJ. She has also taught for Alexandria Township Public Schools (NJ), Portsmouth Public Schools (VA), and Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VA). Miss Shannon has also had the opportunity to guest teach undergraduate dance courses at Old Dominion University and Temple University. In addition to teaching dance, Miss Shannon has held the position of head coach for multiple all-star and collegiate dance teams in which her choreography has earned top awards for innovation and execution.

Miss Shannon is an active member of the National Dance Education Organization and NJEA as well as trained in First Aid/CPR/AED, NJCAP, NHA, HIB Awareness, and Diverse Learning Needs. Through student-centered, inclusive, reflective, and interdisciplinary methodologies, Miss Shannon prides herself in being able to provide the most effective and engaging dance education possible to each and every one of her students.
